The Women's Center at KershawHealth

Are you having a baby?

We've been there - thousands of times. Welcoming a new member of the family into the world is a unique and special experience, and we'll be with you every step of the way. Our staff boasts decades of experience that brings with it both clinical excellence and the desire to meet your individual needs. There are prenatal classes to help you prepare for the big event, as well as lots of support, education and encouragement while you're here. Comfortable surroundings for you and your family. And the assurance that we'll do everything we can to make this the most wonderful experience possible.

Our three labor, delivery, and recovery suites offer the latest in medical technology in a supportive environment designed to make your childbirth experience exceptional. Two lounge areas are provided for family members awaiting the arrival of your new little one, and our enlarged nursery provides a safe, convenient location for your baby while you rest and relax.

In labor?

If you think you are in labor, please go directly to the emergency room. If your doctor has sent you to the hospital to be admitted, please go to the registration desk at the emergency room/outpatient entrance of the medical center.

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours for the Women's Center are the same as general medical center visiting hours, but we ask that no children under 12 visit. Children’s immature immune systems leave them vulnerable to the many infections commonly present in a hospital. Please check with the nurse if a sibling under age 12 would like to visit.

South Carolina law requires you to have an infant car seat for your newborn when you leave the hospital. If you have questions about purchasing or installing a car seat or any other child safety questions, please contact Whitney Hinson, SafeKids Kershaw County, at 803-432-4564, or email her at whinson@kershawhealth.org.

Infection Control

We work diligently to stop the spread of infections in the medical center, and that's particularly true where children and newborns are concerned. Hand washing is one of the simplest steps we can take to prevent infections. Every healthcare provider should wash their hands or use alcohol-based gel hand sanitizer for at least 15 seconds every time they enter or leave your room. If you don’t see them do this, ask. Your family members and visitors should also wash their hands every time they enter or leave your room. And finally, you should also wash your hands frequently, especially after using the bathroom and before eating, drinking or handling your baby.
