The Vern Ketchem Golf Tournament to Benefit the Hospital Foundation

After Augusta awards the green jacket, golfers from throughout our area tee off in our own tournament to benefit The Hospital Foundation. This annual fundraiser is named in memory of Vern Ketchem, who served as the organization’s founding director. In 2009, the tournament raised nearly $8,000, which funded free prostate cancer screenings for men across the Kershaw County area.

The Vern Ketchem Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament is held annually in the spring on the Monday after The Masters.

The Pegasus Ball

The grandeur of the Pegasus Ball invites our community to don their finest clothes in support of KershawHealth. The biennial black-tie gala features food, music and not-to-be-missed decorations. Past themes have included An Evening in Serengeti and Venice Carnivale, and A Return to Resort-era Camden.

The Pegasus Ball is held every other year in the spring on Thursday evening prior to the running of The Carolina Cup on Saturday. The next ball will be in 2012.

The Baruch Society Members’ Dinner

On Thursday evening prior to The Colonial Cup in the fall, The Hospital Foundation hosts a dinner to recognize and thank donors who have made annual contributions of at least $1,000. In 2008, Albert Baruch Mercer, MD, grand nephew of Bernard Baruch, joined us as our honored guest and speaker.  In 2009, our speaker was Steve Thompson, Senior Vice President of Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore.

The 2010 Baruch Society Members Dinner will be held Thursday, November 11th at The National Steeplechase Museum in Camden.
