Become a KershawHealth Volunteer

People volunteer with us for many reasons.

Some want to keep their social and business skills updated or add community service to their resume. Many see their services as an opportunity to stay in touch with family, friends, and neighbors. Others see their work at KershawHealth as a way to return some of the good fortune they have enjoyed in their lives. Whatever the reason, volunteering with us is a meaningful way to contribute to the community.

We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. We have volunteers who are at-home mothers, college students, and retired seniors. But they are all united in their commitment to helping others and giving back to their community.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer service at KershawHealth requires little knowledge of technology. The Volunteer Department is most always able to find a suitable position for those who want to contribute their time and talents. There are both clinical and non-clinical opportunites, depending on a volunteer's particular interest and comfort level. Volunteer opportunities typically include working in such areas as the front desk, outpatient services, oncology, and the gift shop.

Junior Volunteers

KershawHealth also has a Junior Volunteer program for high school students. Applications for summer volunteers close every year in mid-May. the Junior Volunteer program provides a good feel for healthcare careers, helps build a student's resume, and can often help fulfill community service requirement. Parents must sign a consent for high school volunteers.

Volunteer Commitment and Scheduling

Volunteers typically commit four hours a week. However, there is considerable flexibility in accommodating your volunteer time to fit into your own pesonal schedule.

Recognizing Volunteers

Volunteers are honored each year at an annual awards ceremony with service pins and bars designating their tenure with the KershawHealth volunteer team. A Christmas party is given to honor the volunteers and special volunteers are awarded certificates of distinguished service and are recognized in the volunteer newsletter, The Volunteer Voice.
