The KershawHealth Teen Volunteer Summer program offers area teens an opportunity to explore potential career goals while giving back to their community.

The KershawHealth youth volunteer summer session also provides fellowship and an opportunity to acquire work skills while enjoying an up-close-and-personal view of the inside workings of a primary care hospital.

Teen volunteers work with the hospital staff and adult volunteers. Many teen volunteers make long-range career decisions during their Summer experience.

The program, which begins in May and ends in August, is available for Kershaw County teens who are at least 14 years old by May 30th. Candidates must be entering the 9th grade or higher.

Applications are taken at the beginning of May. A mandatory orientation class is held before teen volunteers start their service. Successful candidates must complete this class. All necessary paperwork must be submitted to Amy Kinard, Director of Volunteer Services.

Twenty-five openings are available for this program. These positions will be filled by the first 25 qualified applicants who submit completed applications and forms. Anyone wishing further information about becoming a KershawHealth teen volunteer should contact Amy Kinard at 803-713-2604.
