In early 2009 Danny Wharton, RN became the new operations director of KershawHealth’s emergency department at the medical center in Camden. Under his leadership, a far-reaching program to make significant improvements has been launched.

At the center of these changes is a renewed commitment to seeing every patient as quickly as possible, providing the highest quality care, and treating everyone who comes to the department with respect.

That translates into getting you out of the waiting room and into an examination room as quickly as possible. It also means a rigorous process of prioritizing patients based on the severity of their condition. Patients with life-threatening condition will get the care they need immediately, and those with less severe conditions will still be treated as quickly as possible.

With all these improvement, however, there is one thing that will not change. Everyone who comes to KershawHealth’s Emergency Department will be treated, regardless of their ability to pay. Anything less than that would not fulfill our overall all mission of providing the best possible care for everyone in the Kershaw County area.

You can do your part to help us provide the most timely care by always remembering to bring a list of your medications and your insurance card with you.
