Rehabilitation Services provides care for those within the hospital setting and at our outpatient facilities located in Lugoff and Kershaw. In order to maximize the therapy experience, we strive for and pride ourselves in providing one on one care between the staff and our patients. Whether you receive services while an inpatient at Kershaw Health or as an outpatient at one of our 2 facilities, we ask that you allow us to help you return to what matters most to you. Physical Therapy at our outpatient locations provide an individualized approach to diagnose and treat your specific disorder or injury. In addition to traditional strengthening treatments, we offer specialized treatment programs that enhance our services and further meet the needs of our community. Currently these programs include aquatics (West Wateree location), vestibular rehab, post-concussion programs, trigger point dry needling and a gait and balance program designed to improve safety and reduce fall risk.
Conditions commonly treated include orthopedics such as acute and chronic injuries and post-surgical intervention. Treatment for individuals is also provided following a neurological injury or conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, spinal cord and traumatic brain injury. Individuals that have been debilitated following a specific injury or condition are also treated in an effort to regain strength and overall function.
Occupational Therapy provides customized treatment programs to improve an individual’s ability to carry out daily activities, training in the use of adaptive and durable medical equipment and custom splinting. Specialized hand therapy services, performed by a Certified Hand Therapist, are available at the Lugoff location to assist those in need of treatment to the upper extremity and post-surgical care.
Conditions commonly treated include upper extremity orthopedic conditions such as acute and chronic injuries and post-surgical intervention. Treatment for individuals is also provided following neurological injury or conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, spinal cord and traumatic brain injury. Individuals that have been debilitated following a specific injury or condition are also treated in an effort to regain strength and overall function.
Speech Therapy services at Kershaw Health consist of inpatient and outpatient speech, language, cognitive and swallowing evaluations and interventions. Also included are Passy-Muir speaking valve evaluations, Guardian Electrical Stimulation for swallowing, Lee-Silverman voice treatment (LSVT) and training in alternative and augmentative communication devices.
Conditions commonly treated include stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, Tracheostomy, head and neck cancers and other voice disorders. Additional pediatric conditions include developmental delays, articulation disorders, stuttering and eating disorders related to developmental or neurological delays.
The Therapeutic Pool at West Wateree Rehab in Lugoff is a critical part of our comprehensive rehabilitation program. The warm water pool provides a more comfortable and less stressful medium for individuals to work towards their rehabilitation goals. Our certified staff assists patients in recovering from orthopedic injuries or surgeries, and strengthening deconditioned individuals due to illness. Additionally we provide those with painful arthritic conditions the opportunity to strengthen their bodies without the negative effects of gravity on painful joints.
Inpatient Rehabilitation Services include Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy. OT is available as needed. Each service provides an individualized approach to diagnose and treat your specific disorder or injury to maximize your recovery during your inpatient stay.
A physician’s referral is required to access our rehabilitation services. We ask that you arrive 20 minutes prior to your initial appointment to complete the registration process. If provided, also bring your therapy prescription to your first appointment.
Initial appointments last approximately one hour, subsequent visits 30 to 45 minutes. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes. If you need to cancel an appointment, we ask that you do so at least 24 hours in advance so this time may be allocated to another person seeking treatment. A no-show fee of $25 will be billed to you if you do not show or provide at least 24 hours notice prior to the cancellation of your appointment.
