Shugart Sue Sue Shugart, FACHE, CPPS
 Chief Executive Officer

Sue Shugart, FACHE, serves as Chief Executive Officer at KershawHealth. She came to Camden in April 2019 after having served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, SC, since March 2015. From July-November 2018, she served as interim Chief Executive Officer for Saline Health System in Benton, AR. Sue has worked in hospital leadership roles for 23 years, having previously served as Chief Administrative Officer at Baptist Easley Hospital in Easley, SC, and as Chief Operating Officer for Clarendon Health System in Manning, SC. Her hospitals have provided her experience in public not-for-profit, private not-for-profit and investor-owned systems. 


Sue earned her bachelor’s degree from Furman University (Greenville, SC) and her master’s degree from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC). She is a Class of 2000 graduate of Leadership South Carolina. 


Sue is board-certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and served on the national Council of Regents as Regent representing South Carolina from 2014-2017. She is also a past president of the South Carolina Chapter of ACHE. In 2018 she received South Carolina ACHE’s Outstanding Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Award and ACHE’s Exemplary Service Award. 


Sue is married to COL (retired) Steve Shugart, and they have five children and seven grandchildren.

Having worked in healthcare and hospital leadership roles for over 20 years, Susan brings significant experience to her position as Chief Operating Officer and has a proven track record of service growth and quality care. Ms. Burroughs comes to Camden from Charleston where she served as Vice President Provider Solutions for Resource Partners, LLC. Prior to that, she served as Associate Chief Operating Officer for HCA, Inc.’s Corporate Executive Development Program in Nashville, TN and Associate Chief Operating Officer for Trident Medical Center in Charleston.


Susan earned her B.S. in biology from California State University in Northridge and her M.H.A. (Master’s in Health Administration) from the University of Southern California School of Policy, Planning and Development in Los Angeles and was chosen Dean’s Merit Scholar. She has earned certifications in Six Sigma Green Belt from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, LEAN Healthcare from the Belmont University, Jack C. Massey Graduate School and Management of Ambulatory Care Systems from the University of Southern California School of Policy, Planning and Development.


She is a Board-Certified Fellow in Healthcare Management from the American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE) and has received the ACHE and South Carolina Chapter of ACHE Service Award and the ACHE Early Career Healthcare Executives Award.

Susan also enjoys giving back to the community and serves on many local and national boards to include the to include the LiveWell Kershaw Coalition, American Heart Association Midlands Board, South Carolina Hospital Association - Regional Leadership Council and is currently the President-Elect of South Carolina National Association of Health Service Executives.

Phil Childree joined KershawHealth in 2018 and provides direction and oversight for all financial operations. With 20 years in the healthcare industry, he has served in financial leadership roles in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Alabama. Phil comes to KershawHealth from North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama where he served for four years.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Business Administration from Troy University. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).

  Chief Nursing Officer

A graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School, Stacy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in nursing degrees from the University of South Carolina and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from the University of North Florida.

Stacy joined KershawHealth as a staff nurse in 1998 and has served in various leadership positions over the years. She was a Palmetto Gold Nursing Excellence Award winner in 2006 and the USC College of Nursing Alumna of the Year in 2016. In addition, Stacy is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality; Nurse Executive, Advanced - Board Certified; Certified Executive in Nursing Practice; Certified Professional in Patient Safety; and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
She currently serves on the SCHA Solutions Board, President of the SC Organization of Nurse Leaders, Co-chair of the Palmetto Gold Steering Committee and a member of the State Board of Nursing’s Investigative Review Committee.

Angela joined KershawHealth in 2001 as the Director of Human Resources. Prior to joining the medical center Angela was a Senior Human Resources Manager for IKON Office Solutions for the Southeastern Region. Angela also worked as a paralegal for 8 years in Miami, Indianapolis and Washington, DC.

Angela received her Bachelor of Science degree in consumer economics from the University of Georgia. 

Angela is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Association (ASHHRA) and has served as President and a Board Member of the South Carolina Healthcare Human Resources Association (SCHHRA).
