Sleep Diagnostics

For more informational videos about sleep disorders, check our Video Library.

Our Sleep Diagnostics Center is a specialized facility where sleep technicians identify and provide treatment recommendations for sleep disorders. We help our patients feel right at home while we gather critical data that can uncover the cause of sleep problems such as sleeplessness, poor quality of sleep, excessive snoring, and more.

The highly trained staff are Registered Respiratory Therapists and Registered Polysomnographic Technologists. Our team has more than 40 years of combined experience diagnosing and treating pediatrics, adults, bariatrics, and geriatric patients.

If you suspect you have a sleep disorder, see your physician. After interviewing you, he or she may well refer you to the Sleep Diagnostics Center for a polysomnogram, or sleep study as it’s more commonly called. This safe and painless test is performed overnight at the Center.

Typically your physician will send an order directly to us, and we will contact you to arrange a date and time for your first visit. Prior to your visit, we will send you a complete packet of information, including a medical history for you to complete and return to us.

This outpatient test starts in the evening and lasts at least six hours. Before arriving for your test, you are free to have your evening meal. Just remember to avoid caffeine. And you should take all your regular medications, unless your physician instructs your otherwise.

During your stay, you’ll have your own private bedroom and bathroom. The sleep study rooms are more than simply hospital rooms. They provide many of the comforts of home:  a double bed, a soft comforter, extra pillows, artwork and even cable television.

As you sleep, a sleep technologist monitors the physics of your body. Small electrodes attached to your body--similar to those used in an EKG exam--provide valuable information about your stages of sleep, body movements, respiratory events, heart rate, snoring, and general behavior. After analyzing the results and recommendations of your sleep study, your physician will be better able to pinpoint the cause of any sleep-related disorder you may be experiencing.

Sleep studies, whether your first or second, are commonly covered by most insurance plans. We also offer pre-test tours of our facilities so that you feel more comfortable the evening of your test.
